When opening Word/Excel/PowerPoint 2016, there is a window launching with either templates, recently opened documents or a navigator for OneDrive content. Either I am going crazy, or someone from Microsoft has messed things up again, but I remember there was an option to clear all unpinned documents from this list on earlier versions, even in the Beta days. So basically, these are the options currently available in Word/Excel/Powerpoint via right-clicking: I am currently running the most up-to-date version (15.20) and I see absolutely no way to clear all unpinned documents at once - I can still clear whichever documents I select one by one but that's not the point (and it's also very time-consuming). So, my question is whether this feature has been removed or implemented in a more counter-intuitive way.
Removing deleted files from Word Documents Gallery. How do I remove files in Word 2011 after I delete them? When I press Word from my dock, the deleted documents show up as empty outlined boxes with the titles underneath, but when I click on them, it says 'Cannot locate file.' Mar 20, 2013 Mac Word does it a little differently: on opening the file, all tracked changes or comments in the document will be forced visible, whether the last user hid.
After a closer examination I saw that there is now in fact no way to clear recently opened files AT ALL. This is insane! Alright, almost a year has passed and no progress on this major issue! I can't believe how a company such as Microsoft can continue to be so unprofessional. Let's revisit the problem again, apparently one still can't clean unpinned items from the start-up window: Or from the Menu bar or from anywhere else in Word/Excel/PowerPoint, for that matter. Yes, in 2017, IKR: Amusing, isn't it, that Office 2011 could to this and Office 2016 can't even after it has been released for more than an year and a half: Sending feedback doesn't do.
Microsoft does not care about their customers. How hard can it be to implement this feature!
Never have I see any other program that creates/modifies/previews files that does not have this functionality. Honestly, Microsoft, I have a permanent license for Office 2011 and only got Office 365 because I wanted the refreshed look and to support the development of the suite, also hoping that you will at some point (however unlikely) integrate some of the many features only available on Windows at the moment. Not only are you not doing that, but you also fail to provide the pretty basics. Office 365 is just a way for you to justify the always unfinished and lousy state of your products while milking your customers for money. My patience is growing thin again. Just sitting here waiting for Microsoft to fix their issues. Sending feedback is a private way to alert Microsoft about your concern.
A public way is here in this forum, but this forum is primarily user-to-user, so Microsoft probably won't see your comments. There is a separate forum called UserVoice for feature suggestions. That forum is user-to-Microsoft. Comments made there are seen by Microsoft. There is an existing feature suggestion on this topic. Please vote for the suggestion and express your feelings in UserVoice so that Microsoft knows how you feel, I am an unpaid volunteer and do not work for Microsoft. Sending feedback doesn't make a difference when there is no desire to listen to feedback and when constructive criticism is disregarded. There are so many issues with the Office applications on Mac, which I have reported multiple times, and they still aren't fixed after many months of waiting and installing various semi-useless updates. The reason I am posting on this forum is to give these issues some publicity; I secretly hope that they have a bit of shame and will pay closer attention to fixing their. when more people are aware of the existence of these issues.
I find it completely pathetic that we have to beg them through some forums like the UserVoice so they can implement (or bring back) BASIC functionalities and fix bugs. Allow me to remind you that there are plenty of suggestions on the UserVoice forums which have received an extraordinary amount of user votes and are still not implemented. I have now decided that I am going to send them the following piece of feedback once a day on every day I can through Word, Excel and PowerPoint until they fix this: DAILY BASIC MISSING FEATURES REPORT A long time has passed since Office 2016 for Mac came out of the Beta days and we still can’t clear unpinned/recently opened documents, which might violate our privacy in certain cases. I have originally posted about it here about an year ago: With all of your semi-useless updates I sure thought this feature, which, allow me to REMIND you, was present in Office 2011, would come back, but sadly it hasn’t. Clearly you do not care about it.
Well now I have one more thing to spam you about You will get a daily reminder from me until this is fixed. Let's see if spamming them would help. Just sitting here waiting for Microsoft to fix their issues. Let's see if spamming them would help. Certainly there is something to the notion that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Microsoft's feedback system seems to be built around this concept.
I think you can overdo it, though. It's not likely your feedback will be considered seriously if you send it often enough to become an annoyance. Microsoft is sensitive to public pages about their products. If you have a blog, you might write a blog expressing your thoughts and refer to that blog in your feedback. Be fair, though. If Microsoft fixes an issue, please be sure to make note of it by sending a Smile using feedback and keeping your blog page up to date regarding fixes. Hi there I have a question. Just yesterday I used the office updater program on Mac OS High Sierra to update my office 2016 apps to the latest versions. The Word version is 16.9 (180116). Unfortunately, I am having some major issues with some of my regular templates in Word. Pages of text are printing on top of each other, and places where there should be text are blank. I would like to revert to the version of Word prior to this one, but can't seem to find any help in how to do this for Mac OS. All the answers out there seem to be for Windows users.

I found the site on which to download the previous update package for Office 2016 apps on Mac.but am unsure as to how to apply the package.Do need to delete my current Word application from Applications, and then open the update package? Or something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated, since my work depends on the templates I have acquired.
For anyone looking for the way to revert to a previous version of any Office (2016) application on Mac OS High Sierra (10.13.2) the following worked for me:. Go into one of the office Apps and choose Help Check for Updates at the top of the screen. Turn off automatic updates. Find the previous version of the particular application you want to revert (Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel) on the Office Update History for 2016 page:.
You can download the installer package for the individual app and not the whole Office 365 update by clicking the links on the right hand side (Word, Excel, etc). Before opening the update pkg, delete the application (Word, Excel, etc) from your Applications folder in the Finder. It will go to the trash (in case you need to restore it). Open the installer package and it will re-install the previous version for you.

You may need to open it and force quit 1-2 times before it will function correctly again for some reason. Wait until a later date and try updating again when hopefully the bugs have been worked out:), and if you have time, post on here about your problem, so that they can work on a fix to it.
